voices of Activism

The Voices of Activism in Nottingham (VoA) project seeks to increase awareness, knowledge and public recognition of achievements and legacies of a variety of social movements and civic engagements in Nottingham. It also aims to connect Nottingham activism transnationally, thereby surfacing important networks that continue to sustain the local mobilisation for causes from environmentalism, to the peace movement, disability and mental health advocacy, feminism, refugee and minority rights, and community pride. Working with local archives, activists and archives, we seek to create permanent fixtures – an open archive, meeting space, and memorial trail – that will underpin activist traditions, solidarities, and vibrancy in the future.
